Oscar nominations 2024

 

The nomination this year has been in my opinion somewhat predictable with films like Oppenheimer sweeping and what most predict to be Bradley coopers continued losing streak fueled by an additional 7 nominations. 

Though the influence of the academy has been under speculation in the last few years with viewership only recently making a slight recovery but still down. Regardless the noteworthiness of the awards remains and this year controversy arouses with the snubbing of Barbie. But as many closer to the academy have confirmed the blockbuster despite its cultural impact leaves little room for academy notice with 2 hour run time often more interested in message then the artistic expression of its creators. 

As predictions go, they seem straightforward in most categories with obvious favorites such as Nolan in Oppenheimer or lily Gladstone in killers of the flower moon. Additionally, it can be presumed that certain individuals will be overlooked such as Gladstones piers Leonardo Decaprio and director Martin Scorsese. Bradly Cooper, similarly as mentioned received a nomination however whether or not he will win is anyone's guess.
